IBF Designates Officials for the Malinga-Gabutan, Mathebula-Ndlovu World Title Eliminators in South Africa

PhilBoxing.com

Filipino Dayer "Die Hard" Gabutan (21-1-2, 18KO’s) and South African Vusi Malinga (20-4-1, 12KO’s) - both lefties - will clash in a 12-rounder IBF eliminator for the No. 1 mandatory ranking in the bantamweight division tomorrow night (March 23) at Carnival City Casino in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the New Jersey-based organization has already named its officials.

The third man in the Malinga-Gaburan fight will be 42-year-old Grzegorz Molenda of Krakow, Poland.

Judges: Alfred Buqwana of Soweto, South Africa, Joseph Cooper of Virginia, USA and Neville Hotz of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Supervisor is Vaughn LaPrade of the USA.

Gabutan, 24, of Ilocos Sur is IBF No. 8, while Malinga, 33, of Ekurhuleni in Gauteng, South Africa is IBF No. 7.

MATHEBULA-NDLOVU IBF SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT ELIMINATOR

In the main event of “African Glory 3,” former South African World champions Jeffrey “Moongose” Mathebula (26-4-2, 14KO’s) and Takalani Ndlovu (33-8, 18KO’s) will collide for a third time in their careers, this time in the IBF Eliminator for the No. 1 mandatory ranking in the 122 lbs. division.

Referee will be Joe Cooper and supervisor Vaughn LaPrade, both from the USA.

Ringside judges: Grzegorz Molenda of Poland, Alfred Buqwana and Neville Hotz of South Africa.

In an international 8-rounder non-title super flyweight fight, Filipino Eduard Penerio (15-1, 10KO’s) of Cotabato City, Maguindanao faces the much taller Zolani Tete (16-3, 14KO’s) of Eastern Cape, South Africa. Both heavy-hitter fighters are 24-year-old.

In a 12-round rumble for the South African Lightweight Championship, 26-year-old Thompson Mokwana (18-6, 10KO’s) of Johannesburg battles Patrick “The Hammer” Malinga (27-8-1, 24KO’s) of Ekurhuleni. It’s a fight between two former South African national champions, Malinga being ten years elder than Mokwana.

The IBF official weight-in ceremony will take place later on today.

“African Glory 3” this Saturday night at Carnival City Casino is a production of veteran South African promoter Branco Milenkovic of Branco Sports Productions Pty Ltd.
