NBA -- Bulls win on Noah's wild triple-double By Ricardo Gardunio PhilBoxing.com Sat, 02 Mar 2013 CHICAGO -- The Philadelphia 76ers, having lost six games in a row, came to town to play a struggling Bulls team that had lost seven of their last 10 games. But after a tight three quarters that ended in Chicago's favor, 68-62, the Bulls pulled away late and scored a 93-82 decision. All-Star Joakim Noah, playing with some added fire against the team whose fans cheered when he severely injured his ankle in last years playoffs. doled out one of his best games as a pro with 23 points, 21 rebounds, and 11 blocks. The only other players to record 20-20-10 blocked shots in a game include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O?Neal, Shawn Bradley, and Elvin Hayes. This was the third triple double of Noah?s career and he bested his previous career high of 8 blocks. The last Bulls player to record a triple double with blocks was Artis Gilmore in ?77. Carlos Boozer, who stated after the game that Joakim?s play was ?legendary,? was also very effective early on, playing a 2-man game with Kirk Hinrich and scoring 10 points in the opening quarter. Boozer finished the game with another double-double, scoring 21 points with 12 rebounds. The Bulls received more injury news right before the start of the game when they found out that Rip Hamilton would not play due to back spasms. Marco Bellinelli started in his place but was not much of a factor on the offensive end all night, finishing with 6 points on 10 shots. Also without Taj Gibson (a sprained MCL) and Derrick Rose (torn ACL), the Bulls were still able to establish their defensive dominance against a Philadelphia team that was without Andrew Bynum, who just signed a max contract with Philly in the offseason. Paid $16 million this season, Bynum has lingering knee issues. Derrick Rose was seen before the game shooting around and even dunking the ball six times in a row in stride. It could just be a matter of time before we see him out there, or not. No one knows the answer to that except for Derrick. The Bulls are looking for a better start to the month of March, after going 5-8 in February and giving coach Thibodeau his second losing month since coming to Chicago. They will look for some revenge when they play host to a Brooklyn Nets team that they lost to on February 1st, in a game that the Bulls were so severely depleted, that they had to start Nazr Mohammed.
