THE FIGHTS AT THE HARD ROCK LAS VEGAS - FULL REPORT AND PHOTOS By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sun, 27 Jan 2013 Matthysse looks on the fallen Dallas Jr. Hard Rock Casino Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, NV:- Tonight at a fight card held by Golden Boys Promotions and aired on Showtime, Junior welterweight slugger Lucas Matthysse (33-2-0, 31KO) of Argentina scored a fantastic win over a slightly over-matched fighter from Bakersfield, California, Mike Dallas, Jr. (19-3-1, 8KO). In fact the fight is so short that the joke at the press room is that no one from the print media missed their deadline. The very gutsy Dallas, in spite of looking huge and buff was just a ?no match? against a fighter who, aside from being technical, also has tremendous power in both hands. A well placed short right hand ended the fight at 2:26 of round 1. Dallas was unconscious before he even dropped to the floor reminiscent of how Ricky Hatton was KO?d by Manny Pacquiao and Pacquiao knocked out by Juan Ma. Marquez. Matthysse (L) poses Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya after the victory. In the supporting main event, Jesus Soto Karass (27-8-3, 17KO) of Los Mochis, Mex won a very closed majority decision over a very tough slugger from Turkey, Selchuk Aydin (23-1-0, 17KO). The scores were 95-95, 97-93 and 97-93. Many in the crowd thought that it was really a unanimous decision for Karass. Sotto-Karass vs Selchuk Aydin. Charlo vs Yorgy. In a fight for the WBC Continental Americas Super welterweight title, Jermell Charlo (20-0-0,10KO) of Houston, TX knocked down twice a very game Bridgeport, PA fighter, Harry Joe Yorgey in the 2nd round and proceeded to break him down until that fateful round 8th where he dropped Yorgey again. Referee Kenny Bayless saw the futility of allowing the fight to continue and waved it off at 1:09 of the round. Other results: Francisco Vargas,( 14-0-1,11KO) an ex Mexican Olympian made short work of Ira Terry (26-10-0, (16 KO) of Memphis, TN dropping him with a short right hand.
