Triple G manhandles Rosado in 7 bloody rounds By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 20 Jan 2013 Golovkin. New York ? Gennady Golovkin?s star continued to shine brighter as the undefeated WBA and IBO champion scored another knockout victory in the biggest stage in the country. Golovkin, 30, originally from Karaganda, Kazakhstan manhandled his tough and game challenger, Gabriel Rosado of Philadelphia. Rosado, 27, suffered an early cut in his left eye in the second round, a product of the Kazakh fighter?s heavy right hand. It was a cut that grew deeper and wider as Golovkin?s right hand found its mark on that wound. Blood oozed from that open cavity and it scattered in the canvass of the ring after every punch from the champion. But the Philly fighter did not give up that easy and fought valiantly against his stronger opponent. He landed occasional decent shots on Golovkin who was like a predator looking for that one big shot that will send Rosado down. Golovkin did not find that big shot but connected almost half of his power punches on his challenger, 112 out of 239. Meanwhile, Rosado (21-5, 13 KOs) landed only 52 of his attempted 186 power shots, a 28 % connect rate. Golovkin or Triple G, as he is fondly called also attempted and threw more punches. He scored 42 percent of them, 208 of 492. His opponent only landed 76 of his 345 punches, a measly 22 % of them. Golovkin who was suffering from the flu days before this fight insisted that he be allowed to fight in the big stage in New York and a fight that was carried nationwide by HBO. Golovkin manhandled Rosado in a one sided and blood-filled fight. Rosado?s corner saw enough after seven rounds and threw in the towel before the bell ended for the round. He was not able to drop his opponent but Gennady Golovkin nevertheless earned a knockout (TKO) victory and improved his undefeated career to 25 victories. He also scored his 22nd knockout here at the Theatre of Madison Square Garden. It was a smart move after all for Triple G whose reputation as a hard punching knockout artist grows with every impressive win such as this.
