DIMAKILING, PASCUA MISS GM NORM IN INDONESIA OPEN CHESS

Manila -- FILIPINO International Master Oliver Dimakiling and Fide Master Haridas Pascua missed their Grandmaster norm/results bid at the conclusion of $55,000 Indonesian Open Chess Championship (IOCC) 2012 at the Puri Ratna Convention Hall, Level 2, Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia, yesterday.
The Davao City native Dimakiling bowed to WGM Pham Le Thao Nguyen of Vietnam, while the pride of Mangatarem, Pangasinan Pascua yielded to GM Dmirty Bocharov of Russia.
With the loss, Pascua was stuck at 5.5 points, the same output of countryman GM John Paul Gomez, GM Oliver Barbosa and GM Richard Bitoon.
Dimakiling, meantime remains at 4.5 points along with GM Eugene Torre.
GM Mark Paragua nipped FM Anjas Novita of Indonesia for 5.0 points. FM Paulo Bersamina finished with four points.
GM Yu Yangyi and GM Li Chao of China shared top honors with 7.5 points apiece in nine outings.
The eight Filipinos Indonesia chess campaign are supported by National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Chairman/President Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr., Secretary-General Abraham' Bambol' Tolentino Jr., Executive Director GM Jayson Gonzales, Vice President and Bayan Muna party list representative Neri Javier Colmenares, Louie Ramos of Spartan Mining Corp., Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Ricardo Garcia and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Jose Cojuangco Jr.
