IM SENADOR FINISHES 4TH IN HONG KONG CHESS By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Wed, 03 Oct 2012 FILIPINO International Master Emmanuel "Manny" Senador wound up fourth overall in the just concluded 2012 Hong Kong International Open Chess Championship on Wednesday held at the Convocation Room of the University of Hong Kong. The Iloilo City native Senador collected 6.5 points on five wins, one loss and three draws. He was in a group of players with 6.5 points along with 5th placer IM Marcos Llaneza Vega of Spain and 6th placer Baining Chen of China. But Senador, who beat Candidate Master Bharat Arun of India, took the fourth position by virtue of his superior tie break points. ?Once again our flag has been raised in this foreign land after knowing that our Filipino kababayan (Emmanuel) Manny Senador finished fourth overall in the just concluded 2012 Hongkong International Open Chess Championship," said 1975 West Visayas Champion and 1976 Palarong Pambansa runner-up Bayan Muna party-list representative Neri Javier Colmenares, a confidante of Senador, who also hails from Iloilo province and Vice President of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) under the leadership of it's Chairman/President Prospero "Butch" Pichay Jr. and Secretary-General Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino Jr. IM Zhou Yang-fan of England, Jinshi Bai and Li Bo of China shared the top spot with seven points each. IM Zhou dealt IM Oliver Dimakiling of the Philippines, Li toppled United States chess master Alberto Rivera of the Philippines and Bai nipped Chen. With the setbacks, the Mandaluyong ace Rivera finished with six points, a good for a share of 7th to 10th place, while the Davao City pride Dimakiling remains at 5.5 points to landed at 11th to 16th place.
