Nietes battles Amol for WBO crown! By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sat, 04 Nov 2006 An official announcement was made by top Filipino promoter Sammy "Don King" Gello-ani today during a special press conference held at the Sugbahan Food Corner in Mandaue City. Gello-ani, who has just arrived from Iloilo City where he spent his Halloween break with family, informed members of the media that ALA Boy Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes gets his biggest break so far when he tangles with Indonesia's Heri Amol for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific minimumweight title on November 24 in Mandaue City. Aldeguer, Jonathan and Abigail Chan of Sugbahan, lady promoter Clarice 'Golden Girl' Catipay, Nietes, Along Denoy, Milan Milendo and Joseph Omanz. In the chief support, RP no. 1 junior fly Along Denoy battles Jaca Stable's Aljun Salugaol in a 10-round tiff. The undefeated Milan 'CdO Bonito' Milendo also takes on Rommel Bongon of Manila in an 8-round faceoff, while Joseph Omanz goes up against Rey Las Pinas. The other bouts pit Leon Maratas against Lotlot Gaviola; Jessie Albaracin versus Edmund Velayo; Nic Banal versus Brix 'Bomb' Ray; Wilson Haya against Alfredo Balabat; and Franklin Albia against Romano Gelig.
