By Dionis Jacobe PhilBoxing.com Mon, 03 Sep 2012
Eddie ?The Filipino Phenom? Yagin is a Filipino-American mixed martial artist from Honolulu, Hawaii. Prior to being signed with the Ultimate Fighting Champtionship (UFC), he was a former X-1 Featherweight Champion and a Tachi Palace Fights Featherweight Champion, which he earned via submission due to guillotine choke in the first round against former Bellator champion Joe Soto at Tachi Palace Fights 10 on August 5, 2011.
Eddie ?The Filipino Phenom? (16-5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), was set to fight last September 1, 2012 against Dennis Siver (20-8 MMA, 9-5 UFC), but the whole card was cancelled. Instead, the featherweight bout will take place at UFC on FOX 5 on December 8, 2012 at KeyArena in Seattle.
The Filipino Phenom seeks to earn the biggest win of his career after earning a split-decision win over Mark Hominick at UFC 145 event. The heart pounding, bloody encounter earned the two protagonist the evening's "Fight of the Night" bonus. With the hard-fought win, Yagin was able to earn his first UFC victory following his defeat in his UFC debut against Junior Assuncao via unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Dennis Siver fights for the second time at 145-pound featherweight. The former contender at 155-pound weight category, earlier dropped to 145 pounds, who defeated featherweight contender Diego Nunes by way of a unanimous decision.
