RING EDITOR PREDICTS ANOTHER BAD BEATING FOR MORALES

PhilBoxing.com

The Editor-in-Chief of Ring Magazine, Nigel Collins, predicts that legendary Mexican Erik "El Terrible" Morales is likely to receive another bad beating at the hands of Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao when they clash for a third time at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on November 18.

In an email to Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine that is considered the "Bible" of boxing said that while "a great warrior like Morales certainly deserves a chance to redeem himself, I think Pacquiao's victory in their second fight was so convincing, another bad beating for the Mexican is virtually assured."

Collins indicated that in his eyes Morales "is a fighter in decline, while Manny is in his prime."

Collins who watched the Pacquiao-Oscar Larios "Mano-A-Mano" showdown on pay-per-view in the US last July 2 said he was "very impressed by the way Pacquiao was able to perform so well despite the countless distractions and responsibilities tugging him in so many different directions at once. The fact that he could be so focused in such a chaotic situation is quite remarkable."

The Ring executive said as expected Larios gave an excellent account of himself but it was "a case of a good fighter facing a great fighter, and the great fighter won." Collins added, Pacquiao's " versatility, speed and punching power were simply too much for Larios to overcome."

Pacquiao was scheduled to leave for Los Angeles aboard a Philippine Airlines flight last night before moving on to Las Vegas along with good friend and confidant Rex"Wakee" Salud to be at ringside when Randy Suico makes his bid to become the first Filipino world lightweight champion when he battles undefeated 22 year old champion Juan Diaz who has a record of 29-0 with 14 KO's.

Suico is a major underdog in the fight with oddsmakers installing Diaz a favorite in which a $500 bet will win only $200 or 2 1/2 to 1. But Suico's manager Joe Koizumi is unfazed. He says Suico is in the best shape of his life and his power and height advantage - 5'9" to 5'5" may spell the difference although he concedes Diaz is faster than Suico.
