PhilBoxing.com

Aguelo.
Adones Aguelo is back to defend his Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight crown against journeyman Renan Branzuela of Bukidnon. Fans of the hard puncher from Maasin City want his career to zoom again considering that he suffered a string of setbacks in his fights overseas.

Boxing now out of TI Yamagata Promotions of Japanese Akira Sato, Aguelo will top bill the ?Binakbakay sa Barangay? in Barangay Basak, Lapulapu City. Other TI Yamagata boxers will also see action in the undercard.

It is however noted that Aguelo has won all of his four fights in Cebu while Branzuela has lost all three bouts in the same province. But Aguelo should not be complacent as the Bukidnon boxer packs a lot of experience under him.

Aguelo has been unsuccessful in a series of fights abroad He lost to undefeated Australian Joel Brunker in the interim WBO Oriental featherweight championship in Richmond, New South Wales, Australia last November 25, 2011.

His attempt at the WBC Asian Boxing Council featherweight title also proved futile when he lost to Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo in Uttaradit, Thailand via a unanimous decision on March 4, 2011. The Thai boxer is still undefeated in 45 fights with 25 KO wins.

He was also defeated by Sod Kokietgym for the WBO Asia Pacific super bantamweight title by unanimous decision on May 14, 2010 in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

In a stint in Kobe, Japan, he lost a very close split decision to hometown favorite Kota Fukuoka by scores of 76-77, 76-77, 78-74 in June 24, 2011.

In the local scene, Aguelo however bounced back by defeating Victor Manon by 6th round TKO, Edgar Gabejan by unanimous decision, and recently Jake Verano by 4th round TKO to win back the PBF title.

Branzuela has lost to Genesis Servania and Richard Betos last year before a unanimous decision win over Godwin Tubigon.

In the undercard, Masashi Tada of Yamagata, Japan who will face Junior Salvador in a six round bout. Roemart ?TI Yamagata? Sentillas will be matched against Romnick Magos in a supporting match scheduled for ten rounds.

Other preliminary bouts include TI Yamagata Valero vs. Erwin Pulvera for 8 rounds, TI Yamagata Boyosi vs. Jovan Munoz for 4 rounds, and Rajah Renoel Pael vs. Lyndel Radoc for 6 rounds. It was announced that the fight admission is free.
