Cebu City -- Reigning WBO Asia-Pacific Bantamweight Champion Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista was rushed to the Cebu Doctor's Hospital tonight due to high fever and heavy coughing.
Bautista, who was scheduled to face Mexican Alejandro Felix Montiel in the undercard of the mammoth Pacquiao-Larios Mano-A-Mano boxing event this coming Sunday, July 2, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, was feeling under the weather when PhilBoxing.com visited him last Tuesday during his training at the famed ALA Boxing Gym. Bautista had to forego his sparring session on that day and instead opted for a light workout.
Tonight, Bautista apparently has a relapsed as he was admitted to the hospital to take the necessary medication and undergo a series of tests.
When asked if Bautista's fight next week would be called off, Antonio L. Aldeguer, Bautista's manager, said that "it will depend on the doctor's findings."
