MARVIN SONSONA FIGHTS AGAIN FEB. 4
By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Wed, 04 Jan 2012

?Marvelous? Marvin Sonsona is scheduled to fight Carlos ?El Flaco? Fulgencio at the Hoops Dome in Lapulapu City this February 4. Sonsona made a successful return to the ring last October at the same venue by beating Mexican Carlos Jacobo by unanimous decision.
Fulgencio (19W-5L-1D, 12 KO?s) hails from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is listed at 5?9?, which would be the obvious reason for his ring moniker which means ?skinny?. He fought twice in the U.S., losing to Abner Mares and Antonio Escalante in 2009. In his last bout, he won by split decision in Mexico against Oswaldo Castro.
The 21 year old Sonsona (15W-1L-1D, 12 KO's)had a brief reign as WBO superflyweight champion in 2009 and is now campaigning as a superbantamweight.
The 5?7? southpaw from Gensan went into a self-imposed hiatus for twenty months but promised to be more serious in his profession prior to his comeback win against Jacobo.
The undercard will feature a Philippine lightweight title bout between Jay Solmiano and Rey Labao.
