Former pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao?s sparring partner Glen Tapia scored a sensational 2nd round knockout over Mike Ruiz on the Cotto-Margarito undercard at The Theater of Madison Square Garden in New York, Sunday, Manila Time.
Tapia, a junior middleweight who served as a sparring partner for Pacquiao in the Philippines as Pacquiao prepared for his clash with Antonio Margarito, remained unbeaten and improved his record to 12-0 with 6 knockouts while Ruiz dropped to 15-7 with 7 knockouts.
The opening round was a give-and-take affair while Ruiz came out strongly at the start of the second banging Tapia on the ropes.
The young New Jersey fighter weathered the attack before nailing Ruiz with a devastating combination that sent him crashing to the canvas to be counted out by referee Eddie Claudio at 2:27 of the round.
