PACQUIAO IS READY

PhilBoxing.com

?Reading-ready na (I?m very much ready).?

This was how World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao described himself going into the final two weeks of his preparations prior to staking his 147-pound crown against Mexican challenger Juan Manuel Marquez on November 12 (November 13 in Manila).

?Kondisyong-kondisyon na at talagang handa nang lumaban kahit ngayon (I?m already in the peak of health that I feel can fight even today),? Pacquiao told this writer by way of text message yesterday.

?We had a good camp that stated in Baguio and continued here in L.A. Sasabihin ko nang kumpleto ang ensayo. Lahat ng kailangang gawin nagawa na namin kasama ang coaching staff,? he said in reference to trainer Freddie Roach, condition coach Alex Ariza and their assistants Buboy Fernandez, Nonoy Neri and ?Haplas? Fernandez.

?I think we?ll just be slowing down the next two weeks until I climb up the ring on November 12. Talaga namang itinodo ko ang ensayo. Yung mga di ko ginagawa in my previous fights, ginawa ko ngayon para paghandaan ito,? the world?s pound-for-pound best fighter said.

?As I have been saying, there will be a lot of action in this fight. And I?m ready for that. We both have a lot of pride when we enter the ring representing our countries, fighting for the honor of our nations," he said.

?I expect Marquez the same the last two times we fought. He is an ultimate competitor, too.?

Pacquiao, the only man to have own eight world championship belts in as many weight divisions, likewise, reiterated what he?s been saying since the start of his training camp. That he?s tired of Marquez?s claims that he both won their first two encounters.

?Siguro me karapatan nga siyang gawing dahilan yun. But those alibis really had driven me to train harder para tapusin na ang mga haka-haka sa kung sino talaga ang nanalo sa labang iyon,? he remarked. Roach, for his part, said starting Monday, he will be reducing Pacquiao?s sparring frequency from 10 to 12 rounds the past two weeks to only 10 to eight this week.

?Manny is already in tip-top shape and we will just maintain that this week and in the next before we proceed to Las Vegas for the last phase of preparations,? Roach said. ?We could be adding a little bit in terms of the other aspects of training like doing the pad, the heavy bags and balls. But that will depend on the needs that might prop up.?

Roach concurred with Pacquiao?s statement wanting a convincing result, saying in a separate interview: ?That?s the reason, too, why I?m training Manny that hard. For him to win convingcly, preferably via knockout to clear the air on who is better.?

?I want Manny to shut Marquez up once and for all. I?m sick of his whining, ?Roach said adding that while before he was worried about Marque3a?s having Pacquiao?s number being the only fighter to have figured out his pupil?s style, now he has no doubt that the latter is capable of silencing the Mexican ?Dinamita.?

"Marquez will be surprised when he faces today?s version of Manny. He no longer fights in one direction or with one hand. Manny has become a complete fighter. He moves laterally in both directions and he throws potent punches with both hands. Manny has so many more weapons than the last time they fought. I think Manny knocks out Marquez in the sixth round," Road said with confidence.

?Manny?s a very dedicated guy in training,? he said. ?He has the whole Philippines on his shoulder when he?s atop the ring. He knows that if he loses, he?ll let the whole country down. And Manny?s not prepared to do that at this point in his life.?
