DENNIS ORCOLLO REACHES WORLD POOL MASTERS FINALS By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Mon, 05 Sep 2011 QUEZON CITY, Philippines -- DEFENDING champion Dennis "Robocop" Orcollo of the Philippines reached the 19th Party Poker.net World Pool Masters Finals by beating Fu Jian Bo of China on Monday here at the Block Atrium of SM North Edsa Mall. Orcollo, top player of Perry Mariano's Bugsy Promotions, defeated Fu, 8-4, in the semifinal. Fu who beat Orcollo in the China Open and Challenge of Champion suffered a scracth in the 12th frame allowing Orcollo to clean up the table. The reigning World 8-ball champion Orcollo race to a 4-0 to 6-1 lead in this race-to-8, winner's break format. "Talagang inunahan ko agad siya, tinalo niya kasi ako sa China Open at sa Challenge of Champion. Ang hirap maghabol kasi masyadong maisksi ng laro tapus winner's break format pa," said Orcollo, who is seeking to be the first player winning back-to-back World Pool Masters crown. "Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumuporta sa akin partikular na ang aking pamilya at ang aking asawa (Rona) at sina Boss Perry at Mam Verna (Mariano). Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) co-founder Ceferino "Perry" Mariano said "Sana hanggang sa finals pumanig ang bola kay Dennis (Orcollo). Perry along her wife Verna, fellow NCBL official Reli de Leon, Orcollo's wife Rona and the Filipino crazy billiard fanatics cheering Dennis at the venue. The former fisherman from Bislig, Surigao del Sur will next face the winner of the match between Darren Appleton of England and Ralf Souquet of Germany who still playing as of presstime. On the roads to the semifinal round, Orcollo defeated Tony Drago of Malta, 8-2, and Chang Jung-lin of Taiwan, 8-1, respectively while Fu scored similar 8-5 victory over Chris Melling of England and Jason Klatt of Canada.
