Denver Cuello-Singwangcha: I Could?ve Been a Champion Now if the Belt Holders Were not Cowards

PhilBoxing.com

Denver Cuello.

I caught up with WBC International Minimumweight Champion Denver Cuello-Singwangcha and took the chance of getting a one on one interview with the Ilongo Champion.

Here is how the talk went:

CYK: How are you Champ? I?ve heard a lot of good news from your manager and promoter Aljoe Jaro. And you break the good news yourself?

Denver: Hi Sir Chito! Long time no see. Yes Sir Kuya Aljoe told me his recent tie up with Canelo Promotions and that my career will be promoted at an international scale by the prestigious Mexican Promotions company. They have assured me of a title fight within the year but I have to work hard and convincingly win my upcoming September fight in Mexico.

CYK: Why is the name Singwangcha attached to you name?

Denver: It is in order to pay homage and respect to my Thai Promoter and Supporter Naris Singwangcha. I am the first Filipino Sinwangcha Boxer and it is an honor to bear the name of this great Promoter from Thailand. He is very famous in Thailand and is a familiar face in the Philippines. Me and Manager are always thankful for his unconditional support not only for me but to other deserving boxers. He is like our Thai Father.

CYK: Well I have met Naris several times and he is indeed a nice guy. He has supported a lot of important boxing events in the country. Let us talk about that elusive championship belt. You mentioned before that you may possibly fight the winner of the Ioka-Hernandez fight in Japan. Ioka won via UD. What happened to the possibility of fighting Ioka?

Denver: I am not privy to the negotiations between my Manager, the WBC and the Ioka camp. Maybe they opted for another fight. I really don?t know but I am not expecting anything from them. I am willing to face any champion placed before me and I promise I will devour all of them inside the ring! I have always salivated on the thought of fighting Roman Gonzales, Ioka, Hirales, Segura and any other champ at 108 and 105 lbs, but they are all cowards! Maybe they know what will happen if they face me. I am not being conceited. I just saw their fights and I know I can beat them. I don?t think highly of myself Sir, but I train so hard that sometimes people think I?m killing myself in the gym.

CYK: Those are strong words. But I saw what happened during your recent fights. From your Bacolod fight with Tadena to your KO of Rachman up to the latest Soto fight. You have been knocking these guys out like crazy. Are you on steroids? (Laughs)

Denver: Ha ha ha! No Sir it?s all natural. I eat well, pray hard, and train like a mad dog. Boxers who sparred with me know what I?m talking about. Boxing fights are won in the gym. You just harvest your yield after the bout.

CYK: Any message to your fans and if you want to thank anybody?

Denver: My family and my fans are the reason why I have the fire to fight all the way to a world championship. Thanks to them. I also thank my manager Aljoe Jaro for the untiring support. Of course I am thanking Mr. Naris Singwangcha for all the help he has extended to me and my team. To you Sir and to the media people in the likes of Sir Chino Trinidad and Ms. Marivic of GMA7. Thanks to all of you!
