GAB UPDATES: ATTENDANCE CONFIRMATION AND TRI-MEDIA'S HELP IN CONVENTION

PhilBoxing.com

Barely twenty four (24) hours from now it's a done deal for the "1st GAB Philippine Boxing Convention" here in the beautiful city of Manila which will be held at the five-star Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila from the 18th to 21st of April,2006.

From top to bottom, we are finalizing things for the finishing touches including some doable oversights just to make sure that things are done before the deadline. We are lucky to have the men and women in the Games and Amuements Board who are solidly and faithfully performing their assigned tasks for the success of the convention. Definitely, this Board under the command of Chairman Eric R.Buhain is always on top of every situation. A million thanks to the ever dynamic Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita for his unwavering support in behalf of the President's high office just to make sure that the event would be more impressive as expected.

On the aspects of confirmation coming from our foreign counterparts, Alan Kim, the director-general of the World Boxing Association-Pan Asian Boxing Association (WBA-PABA ) has signified his interest to attend. There are about four of them from this oldest sanctioning body to participate. And you know, a PABA match will be held at the Rajah Sulaiman Park featuring the Filipino PABA super-featherweight champion Jun Paderna in his first title defense as the main event.

Leon Panoncillo chairman of the WBO-Asia Pacific will represent the WBO family too, as well as our good friend Mick Croucher who is the active President of the World Boxing Foundation which is based in Australia.

OPBF top executive Frank Quill of course is expected to be here, as the Philippines has a good number of OPBF champs in its fold.

The young and energetic David Young of the World Boxing Empire-USBC emailed his confirmation to the GAB secretariat on the 2nd week of February to register earlier.

Ryan Wissow of the World International Boxing Association and our counterparts Commissioners of the Women Asian Boxing Association group will also attend. They have to, being the first women boxing professional group to acquire such a prestigious accreditation from the GAB agency.

We are yet to hear from the International Boxing Federation's Marrianne Muhammad and others whom we considered co-partners in the entire development of professional boxing not only in the country but in the world.

Locals? They will be aplenty. They are Filipino individuals and organizations from the rank of promoters, manager, referees, judges, boxing scholars and other ring officials and top honchos of national and local government units in the country who have surely and consistenly echoed their acceptance to attend the convention.

And the thing is, Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be the guest of honor and speaker during the "Gala Night" awards proper. Big thanks for all of you in advance.

"My only wish is that, this moment of truth for our Filipino champions and the boxing communities will bear fruit not only for the legacy, but solid reunification of our strenght for the common good of our pro-boxers," Chairman Buhain observes as he points out the good outcome of the preparations as of the moment.

But doing all these things is not possible without the valuable support of our ever trusted friends from the tri-media. The upcoming GAB boxing convention is now gaining more grounds in matters of public information drive due to their persistent reportage and on-board broadcaststings. We really value the efforts of Snow Padua and Jasmine of the NBN TV 4 teledyaryo sports show in the afternoon slot. Noel Zarate of the RJTV in his wonderful sports info program emtitled "SportsTackle" through the facilitation of a good media friend, the articulate Tony Israel..Ed Alinea of the SCOOP Manila , Quinito Henson of the Phil Star Sports section, PIA's big boss Secretary Dodie Limcaoco and his staffs, the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas and its officers and most of all, to the co-partner of the GAB in the worldwide web Philboxing.com with Salvin Lagumbay and Dong Secuya as its top brass as editor and webmaster.

We will most welcome the other group from the tri-media who would somehow help the GAB to realize this special priority project of the President to showcase our world Filipino boxing champions before the nation and to our international counterparts. We will be owing you a lot. Your contributions to our calculated success, would mean success in the Philippine pro boxing communities and our nation towards the attainment of our goal for continued global excellence.
