SINGAPORE--Protagonists for this Saturday's huge boxing event here, dubbed "A New Beginning in Professional Boxing" slated at the Suntec International Convention Hall, met for the first time this morning during the final press conference held at the Conrad Centennial Hotel, located within the same complex as the fight venue.
Promoters Daniel Potter and John Leung of Top Rated International Promotions along with its vice-president Scott Mallon and boxing officials were present for the press conference.
Also gracing today's press conference were main event fighters Leon Moore of Guyana who will battle Indonesia's Marangin Marbun for the PABA superbantam title.
Moore is hoping a win over Marbun will give him a crack at the world title in another blockbuster card in Singapore opposite Thai world champion Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym.
In the chief support, Filipino Ariel Delgado takes on Japan's Zaragoza Uema. Delgado, who is accompanied here by Filipino trainer Emil Romano, has vowed to win impressively hoping for bigger opportunities for himself this year.
Local fighter Mohamad Nor Rizan will also be featured in a six-round bout against Chinese Mao Yi Jun.
Comebacking Thai sensation Saddam Kietyongyuth, coming off a hand injury that has sidelined him for several months, will return against dangerous and undefeated Korean Jong Yoon Choi.
"We are really trying our best to bring the best boxing event to Singapore, hoping to jumpstart interest of the sport again in this country, and elsewhere in the region," said promoter Daniel Potter.
Meanwhile, the official weigh-in takes place tomorrow at 6PM, according to Top Rated Boxing Management.
