PENALOSA EASILY DEFEATS MERAZ! MARAON, MAGBANUA ARE NEW WBO TITLEHOLDERS

CEBU CITY--WBO bantamweight king Gerry Penalosa easily took care of business, cruising to an easy unanimous decision win minutes ago over Mexican German Meraz, who seemed content at surviving against the future legendary Filipino fighter.

Penalosa knocked down Meraz in the second round with a big left, and from then on the Mexican would run away from Penalosa, refusing to engage the latter to an all-out war.

Penalosa wanted to win via knockout, but settled for the decision win via scores of 100-89 (twice) and 99-88.

In the undercard, Braveheart fighter Jundy Maraon took the WBO Asia Pacific bantam title by dethroning Jason Egera in the third round.

Another Braveheart fighter, Rolando Magbanua, took the WBO Oriental interim bantam title with a sixth-round TKO over Mexican Jose Cota.

More to come...
