'THRILLA IN ZAMBOANGA' RESULTS AND PHOTOS

PhilBoxing.com

Zamboanga City -- Reigning WBO Oriental Featherweight champion Eric Canoy of the Philippines and highly rated Terdsak Jandaeng of Thailand settled to a technical draw after Canoy suffered a deep cut under his right eyebrow due to an accidental headbutt inflicted by Jandaeng in the fourth round at the jampacked Zamboanga City Coliseum here Sunday morning. Canoy retained his belt with the draw in what is dubbed by the organizers as 'Thrilla in Zamboanga'.

In other featured fights, Federico Catubay of the Philippines won by uninamous decision over Narindeth Kokietgym of Thailand while Samransak Singmanassak of Thailand won by unanimous decision over Felix Tanamor of the Philippines.

The event was the first project between Thailand's premier promoter Kokiet Group and the Philippines' SSG Promotions where boxers from both countries are pitted against each other on a regular basis and fights will be held alternatively in Thailand and the Philippines. Both promoters are aiming to erase the perception that only mismatches are being arranged between fights involving the Thais and the Filipinos.

Yesterday's event, which was co-promoted by Cong. Erbie Fabian's Blue Stallion Promotions, was beamed live to Thailand via a hookup with Viva Sports.
