NBA Daily: Spurs Fil-Am Rookie Dylan Harper Sparks Spurs Win Over Nets 118-107

PhilBoxing.com

Dylan Harper (R).
Tagbilaran City, Bohol – Filipino-American rookie guard Dylan Harper made all the right plays to help the San Antonio Spurs stay unbeaten after surviving Cam Thomas and the Brookyln Nets 118-107, Sunday night (Monday morning, Philippine time) at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. The second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Rookie draft stuffed the stats sheet with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals off-the-bench, while committing zero turnovers.

French phenom Victor Wembanyama was once again impressive with team-high 31 markers, 14 boards, 4 dimes, 3 steals, and 6 blocks to lead San Antonio to a 3-0 start, thus far this season.

The Spurs led by as much as 26 points early in the third, but Brooklyn responded with a 26-7 run to close the gap 88-81 to end the quarter behind great outside shooting. The Nets then continued with a 9-1 spurt to start the fourth and momentarily wrest the lead before San Antonio closed the game on a 10-0 run to win the home opener.

Cam Thomas led the Nets with 40 points, including 5 treys and perfect 13-for-13 shooting from the charity stripe. Michael Porter, Jr. added 16 , but only shot 5-for-15 from the field.

The Spurs were still without starting guard DeAaron Fox, who is still nursing his hamstring injury, and starting forward Jeremy Sochan, who is also down with a sprained left wrist. Kelly Olynyk still hasn’t played for the Spurs after undergoing a left heel surgery, while reserve center Luke Kornet was rested due to a sprained left ankle he sustained in San Antonio’s 120-116 victory over New Orleans.

San Antonio will next host the Toronto Raptors on Monday night (Tuesday morning, Philippine time).

Meanwhile, the Nets will try to bounce back as they visit another Texas team in the Rockets in Houston on the same night.
