By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Sun, 16 Jun 2024
Manila---In a hard-fought battle against the Czech Republic, the RP Blu Boys exited the 18th WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup 2024 in Hermosillo, Mexico with a final score of 2-4. Despite the setback, the Cebuana Lhuillier-backed team displayed unwavering determination throughout the game, showcasing their resilience in the face of tough competition. This defeat marked the conclusion of the Blu Boys' journey in the tournament, where they accumulated a final record of 1 win and 5 losses.
ASAPHIL President Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed his thoughts after the match, emphasizing the valuable lessons learned from their experiences in Mexico. "While today's result isn’t what we hoped for, it will serve as fuel for our next attempt at the World Cup," said JHL in a post-match interview. His words reflect the team's resolve to bounce back stronger in future tournaments, driven by their passion for the sport and dedication to representing the Philippines on the international stage.
Earlier in the day, the Blu Boys engaged in a closely contested match against Venezuela, ending with a narrow 2-3 score line. Despite the loss, standout performances from players like Mark Joseph Quezon and Justine John Rosales demonstrated their individual prowess and contributed to the team's overall effort.
They RP Blu Boys’ journey in the Men’s Softball World Cup 2024 may have ended sooner than hoped, but the quest towards excellence and bringing pride to the Filipino people are still on the way. As they bid farewell to Hermosillo, the RP Blu Boys leave with their heads held high, proud of their achievements and ready to regroup for future challenges.-Marlon Bernardino-
