Suns Eclipse the Sixers, 115-102
By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Fri, 22 Mar 2024

It was a game where both teams needed to win to put themselves in a better position in the jockeying for the automatic playoff spot in their respective Conference: The Phoenix Suns to catch up and the Philadelphia 76ers to keep its place with a more comfortable margin for the 6th place in the West and East respectively.
Clearly, the Suns needed the W more and they got it via a 115-102 win at home over a short handed Sixers team.
The win put Phoenix in a tie with the Dallas Mavericks at 7th and 8th places with a record of 40-29 just half a game behind current 6th placer Sacramento Kings (40-28) in the West.
The defeat dropped the Sixers to a tie with Miami Heat with a record of 38-31 for the 7th and 8th just a game behind the Indiana Pacers (39-31) in the East.
Phoenix was led by Grayson Allen with 32 points followed by Kevin Durant with 22 and Devin Booker with 18.
Meanwhile, Nick Nurse shuffled his players in the continued indisposition of star forward Tobias Harris and drew 18 points from Kelly Oubre, the only Sixers starter to hit double figures as Tyrese Maxey and Kyle Lowry came up with measly 6 and 5. Kenyon Martin Jr and Cameroon Payne came off the bench to contribute 13 and 12 markers in the losing effort.
With a baker dozen games at most left, who will eventually get the sixth slot which gives automatic seeding in the playoffs in the East and West remains a wide open race. Therefore every win counts from here on.
The Suns host the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow while the Sixers travel to California to take on the LA Lakers.
Their rivals for the magic six, the Mavericks will have the Jazz, the Kings, the New York Knicks next in the West and the Heat having the New Orleans Pelicans and the Pacers going up against the Golden State Warriors next in the East.
