Filipino Electrical And Civil Engineers bowler rivalry in World Engineering Day (WED) continuous By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Tue, 12 Mar 2024 Under the theme “Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable World," the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) WED celebration in Qatar commenced with a bowling tournament on March 7, 2024, where the Philippine Integrated Civil Engineers (PICE) Crushers emerged as the winner. During the 2023 PTC WED, the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineer (IIEE) Qatar beat the PICE for the Championship. While on March 2, 2024 in Singapore, the two rivals mixed up team members each compose of 3 PICE and 2 IIEE bowlers where the team of IIEE Singapore chapter president Edison Suelto won. On March 16, 2024 at e-lanes bowling center in Greenhills San Juan Manila, the rivalry continuous between IIEE and PICE. In Doha, Qatar, Engineers from across the globe convened from March 8 to 9, 2024, to mark the annual World Engineering Day. The event, initiated by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and recognized globally as the UNESCO International Day of Celebration of Engineers and Engineering, was hosted by the Philippine Technological Council-Middle East and North Africa (PTC-MENA). The celebration was held in collaboration with eight engineering organizations in Qatar, including PICE-Q (Civil), PSME-Q (Mechanical), IIEE-SQC (Electrical), IECEP-Q (Electronic), GEP-Q (Geodetic), PSSE-MENA (Sanitary), PIChE-Q (Chemical), and SAEP (Aerospace) EMEA. Over the course of two days, participants were immersed in a series of technical presentations spotlighting the latest advancements across various engineering disciplines. The event served as a vital platform for intellectual exchange, fostering discussions on industry trends, technological innovations, and networking opportunities. The discussions placed particular emphasis on solutions geared towards sustainability and environmental preservation, aligning with global efforts towards a resilient and eco-friendly future. The event also included the APEC Engineers Conferment Ceremony and the AER Conferment Ceremony. Distinguished guests at the event included Her Excellency Lilibeth V. Pono, the Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar, and a lineup of prominent engineering professionals, such as Engr. Federico A. Monsada, President of the PTC ; Engr. Romulo R. Agatep, Chair of PTC IRC and Country Engineering Registrar; IR. Yau Chau Fung, AER Commissioner; Engr. Engr. Trese T. Bustamante, PTC Presidential Adviser; Engr. Roy L. Baquiran, Presidential Deputy Adviser and Coordinator for Qatar; Engr. Florigo C. Varona, PHD, Chairman of WED 2024 and President of IIEE; Engr. Mustafa Balarabe Shehu, President of WFEO; and Dr. Marlene Kanga, Former President of WFEO.
