Sixers Finally End Losing Skid, Beat Washington on Road 119-113
By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Sun, 11 Feb 2024

With Tyrese Maxey suiting up, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Washington Wizards on the latter's home floor, 119-113 finally ending an eight game losing streak in nine games.
Maxey led all Sixers starters who put up double figures with 28 points and 9 rebounds. New trade acquisition Buddy Hield contributed 23 while Kelly Oubre, center Paul Reed and Tobias Harris added 16, 12 and 11 respectively. Ricky Council IV came off the bench and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds for the Sixers which have been floundering without their superstar big man Joel Embiid.
The Wizards put off a stout fight with four of their starters scoring in double figures led by Tyrus Jones (25). Big men Kyle Kuzma and Deni Avdija both chipped in 21 points and B. Coulibaly added 13 markers. Jordan Poole contributed 11 coming off the bench. Avdija hauled down a night high 13 rebounds.
The win somewhat improved the Sixers record to 31-21, good for 5th place in the Eastern Conference still dominated by the Boston Celtics (40-12). The Sixers last victory came against the Utah Jazz 127-124 on February 2, 2024 snapping a five game losing run. It was followed by three more loses.
In other significant games, the LA Clippers won over the Detroit Pistons 112-106 and the Oklahoma City Thunder were routed by the Dallas Mavericks 140-111.
The win put the Clippers (35-16) in tie with the Denver Nuggets (36-17) at just a half won game below the currently leading Minnesota Timberwolves (36-16) in the West. The loss put the Thunder one loss game behind at 35-17.
