Thunder Shares Lead in West Again; LA Clippers Determined to Join Race

PhilBoxing.com

The Oklahoma City Thunder gain share of lead again in the NBA West with a 107-83 road win over the New Orleans Pelicans as the LA Clippers strengthen their bid for at least top four with a home 127-107 win over the Toronto Raptors.

The Thunder tie the Minnesota Timberwolves on top of the West at 32-13 ahead of the defending champions the Denver Nuggets who are at third at 31-15. The Clippers follow at 28-14.

Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers followed up their morale boosting win over the Philadelphia 76ers with Pascal Siakam registering triple double with a close 133-131 win at home against the Phoenix Suns that laid to waste Devin Booker's 62 points effort.

Shai Gilgeous Alexander regained his shooting touch as he led the Thunder in scoring with 31 points. He was supported by center Chet Holmgren (20 points and game high 13 rebounds), Jalen Williams (15 points) Cason Wallace (12 points) and Aaron Wiggins (8 points).

Jonas Valenciunas and Herb Jones led the Pelicans with 14 points each with CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram contributing 12 points each.

James Harden led Clippers scoring parade with 22 followed by Paul George (21), Russell Westbrook (20), Nick Powell (17) and Kawhi Leonard (16). Veteran center Mason Plumlee who carried the scoring earlier finished with 12.

Scottie Barnes and RJ Barett led the Raptors with 23 and 22 respectively supported by G Trent Jr and Dennis Schroeder with 13 points each Center T Young contributed 12 points

With Booker on scoring berserk, the Pacers trailed for most of the game with Siakam groping for form and Miles Turner struggling. In fact it was left to 6-9 forward with seven footer wingspan Obi Toppin (23 points) and the pair of guard A Nesmith (22 points) and forward A Nembhart (22 points) to carry the Pacers in the first half. Siakam caught fire in the second half to lead Pacers scoring with 31.

Booker led the Suns with a season high 62 and he was supported by Kevin Durant who tallied 20 but got little support from their other teammates as Eric Gordon (14) and Bradley Beal (12).
