Nolte powers Cavite over Isabela in PCAP chess

International Master Rolando Nolte destroyed FIDE Master Steven Breckenridge in their rapid duel to power Cavite to a 14-7 thrashing of Isabela in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online chess tournament held at Chess.com Platform Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Nolte overpowered Breckenridge in 85 moves of a Sicilian Defense, Alapin variation game to lift the Spartans to their 17th win against three losses in the Northern Division.

The Knights of Alexander slipped to 11-9.

"I'm happy with my performance," said Nolte, a GM aspirant.
The Cavite Spartans continued its momentum after extending its winning streak to twelve games.

Nolte, Cavite’s newly acquired reinforcement also got help from WIM Bernadette Galas, GM Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. and Kevin Mirano.

Galas bested Praise Torre, Antonio toppled NM Gerardo Cabellon and Mirano subdued Lordwin Espiritu.

IM Yaacov Norowitz drew with Benjamin Lising while AGM Voltaire Marc Paragua split the points with Anwar Cabugatan.
IM Joel Banawa nipped Alexis Emil Maribao to score full point for Isabela.

Cavite edged Isabela, 4-3, in blitz portion.

Nolte struck the hardest in dominating the rapid phase, 10-4, and claiming the win.

Earlier, Cavite routed Rizal, 17-4.

Other second-match results saw Manila Indios Bravos beat Quezon City Simba's Tribe, 16-5, Cagayan Kings walloped Rizal Batch Towers, 15-6, Pasig City King Pirates smashed Laguna-PECA, 16-5, Camarines Soaring Eagles trounced RCM Cebu Niños, 11-10, Davao Durianburg Stallions whacked Iloilo Kisela Knights, 14-7, Surigao Fianchetto Checkmates waylaid NegOr SAGAR Sports, 14.5-6.5, Mindoro Tamaraws surprised Arriba Iriga, 12-9.

PCAP, the country’s first play-for-pay league, is headed by PCAP President Atty. Paul Elauria, chairman Michael Angelo Ong Chua, PCAP treasurer Atty. Arnel Batungbakal and Technical Committee chairman Engr. Jojo Buenaventura and sponsored by San Miguel Corporation, Ayala Land, Buenaviel and PCWorx and sanctioned by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB), headed by Chairman Atty.
