PCC Centennial Open Chess Tournament set for October 21 By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Fri, 13 Oct 2023 EVERYTHING is set for the staging of Philippine Cultural College Centennial Open Chess Tournament to be held on October 21, 2023, Saturday, 9am at the Philippine Cultural College Quezon City. This is in connection with the celebration of its Centennial anniversary this year. There will be cash prizes for the winners of the tournament according to the Alumni Association. Champion, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up will be awarded to the winners in 4 categories namely: Open, 18 and under, 14 and under and 10 and under. The Open champion will win a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of P10,000, while the runner-up will receive a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of P5,000. The third placer will take home a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of P3,000 as the fourth and fifth placers will each pocket a medal, certificate and a cash prize of P1,000 and P500, respectively. The top 3 winners in the 18 and under, 14 and under and 10 and under below division will bring home a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of P2,500, P1,500 and P1,000, in order. Special prizes (a medal, certificate and a cash prize of P500) for the category winners such as top Lady, top College, top Unrated, top Senior and top PCC Alumni. The proceeds of this event will be donated to the school's sports development program.
