Canelo Alvarez imposed his will and power to dominate 154-lb undisputed champion Jermell Charlo, sending the American to the canvas in the 7th round before running out a wide unanimous decision victory to retain all his 4 undisputed belts in the super middleweight division at the T-Mobile Arena Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) broadcast by Showtime PPV.

Judges scores: Max de Luca - 118 - 109, David Sutherland - 118-109 and Steve Weisfeld - 119-108 all in favor of Canelo.

As the bell rang, Canelo and Charlo circled each other cautiously, showing immense respect for their adversary's power and skill. Charlo, ever the enigmatic mover, showcased his elusive footwork, darting from side to side. Canelo, a relentless force, stood his ground in front of Charlo, determined to cut off the ring. In the closing minute of the round, Canelo unleashed a thunderous right to the body, followed by a couple of stinging shots to the head, setting the tone for what lay ahead.

The second round erupted with both fighters trading heavy leather. Canelo loaded up, launching a left-right combination, while Charlo retaliated with his own rapid-fire left-right combo. Canelo's left to the liver sent shockwaves through the arena. His power was evident as he continued to connect with precision, leaving Charlo to search for openings amidst the onslaught.

In the third round, Charlo relied on his jab to initiate proceedings. Sensing the need to maintain distance, he held Canelo at bay whenever the Mexican champion ventured inside. Charlo picked his spots, landing crisp jabs and quick rights. However, Canelo's power shots couldn't be denied, and he closed the round by connecting with a devastating right straight and a powerful right hook.

The fourth round saw Charlo attempting a looping right to the head, but Canelo's defense was impenetrable. Canelo's relentless body work continued, and he punished Charlo with rights to the body. Charlo's durability was on full display, but Canelo's combinations, marked by lefts and rights, kept coming.

Charlo resumed the fifth round with a focused jab to the body. Canelo responded with his own right to the body. A stinging jab from Canelo disrupted Charlo's rhythm momentarily. The exchange intensified as Canelo landed a heavy left to the body, while Charlo countered with a left-right combo to the midsection. The action remained relentless.

Charlo's strategy seemed to revolve around counterpunching, but Canelo's forward march was unrelenting. Canelo cornered Charlo, unleashing a furious flurry against the ropes. Charlo's defensive skills were tested, but he managed to weather the storm.

In the seventh round, Canelo struck gold. He found an opening, connecting with a powerful right to Charlo's head, dropping the American champion to the canvas. Charlo displayed immense resilience, bouncing back and connecting with a left cross as he tried to neutralize Canelo's onslaught.

Charlo dug deep and demonstrated his mettle in the eighth round. He scored effectively with counters while Canelo maintained his relentless pressure. A right uppercut from Canelo to the head was one of the highlights.

As the ninth round began, Canelo's stiff jabs set the tone. Charlo responded with a flurry of his own, but Canelo's power punches took center stage. A three-punch combination from Canelo showcased his versatility.

In the tenth round, both fighters continued to engage, looking for opportunities. Canelo unleashed a flurry to keep Charlo in check, but Charlo remained resilient and fired back with counters.

The eleventh round saw Canelo's presence become increasingly imposing. He landed a hard left to Charlo's head and continued to dictate the pace with his stiff jab. Every punch from Canelo was thrown with conviction.

In the twelfth and final round, Charlo knew it was his last chance to turn the tide. Canelo's strength and pressure forced Charlo to retreat. Charlo looked to survive, and Canelo relentlessly pressed forward. Charlo's defensive skills allowed him to hang on, but Canelo's dominance was evident.

As the final bell rang, the judges' scores were announced, all in favor of Canelo Alvarez. Max de Luca scored it 118-109, David Sutherland 118-109, and Steve Wisefeld 119-108. The crowd erupted in celebration of their Mexican hero's victory. Canelo's mastery in the ring had been on full display, solidifying his status as one of the greatest boxers of his generation.
