TOMMY FURY EDGES JAKE PAUL, THE BAD BLOOD IS OVER.

PhilBoxing.com

Despite being knocked down in the 8th and final round, Manchester boy Tommy "TNT" FURY (younger brother of heavyweight world champ Tyson Fury), had already done enough on top of the ring to claim a close split-decision win over American YouTuber superstar Jake Paul Sunday evening in Saudi Arabia.

The non-title mega fight in which Tommy earned a purse of 7 Million USD, and Jake $25 Million, saw the more skilled Tommy Fury outlanding the strong 26-year-old "Problem Child," as well as outboxing him with flurries and faster combinations.

In reply. Jake tried several times to land one big right overhand that never really caught Tommy clean. Jake's left hook was more successful, though.

The referee was Hector Afu of Panama who deducted points to each fighter for fouls.

Final scores were: 75-74 for Jake against 76-73 (2x) for Tommy, making it a split decision win for the blue-eyed 23-year-old Briton, who looked emotional afterwards.

Jake Paul said during the post-fight interview that he accepts defeat as a humbling experience and that he will think about a possible rematch (there is a rematch clause in the contracts).

"I respect Tommy, he won,” said Jake, showing that bad blood and trash talk are things of the past.

The man with legion of followers in social media went on to say:

“Don't judge me by my wins, judge me by my loses. I'll come back.”

“I think we deserve a rematch, It was a great fight and a close fight.

"(But) I do not know if I agree with the judges. (Because) I got 10-8 rounds twice. So, it is what it is. But this is boxing."

The problem child went on to share that:

"This is a humbling experience. I take it on the chin, get back to the gym, and we can run it back.

"Because I think we put an amazing show for fans tonight."

Then, regarding how he felt leading up to the fight, Jake said:

"I felt flat.

“I got sick really bad twice in this camp. Injured my arm. (some wahhhh... could be heard from the audience),

"Ummm, so it wasn't my best performance.

"But I lost. I am not making excuses. I am just saying It wasn't my best performance. I felt a little flat, and, like I said, we are gonna come back and get that W.

"Don't judge me by my wins, judge me by my loses and I am coming back stronger.

"100% lets run it back, and thank you to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Khalid.

"Inshallah I will come back," added Jake Paul who is no longer undefeated, but still incredibly popular in the social media.

WILL A REMATCH HAPPEN?

Or SHOULD both fighters go on their separate ways in search of thrilling challenges, leading to a world title shot?

The exciting event at the Diriyah Arena, Riyadh - Saudi Arabia aired live on PPV on ESPN+
