Hacienda Hermida beats Cavite Knights to win MPCL Chairman's Cup 3x3 FIDE Rated Event Team Composition MPCL 2000 ratings & Below chess tilt

MANILA---Hacienda Hermida demolished Cavite Knights, 2.5-0.5, to capture the MPCL Chairman's Cup 3x3 FIDE Rated Event Team Composition MPCL 2000 ratings & Below chess championship with a lopsided victory on Sunday, January 22 at the Robinson Galleria Malls in Ortigas, Quezon City.

The Hacienda Hermida, composed of Sherwin Tiu, Samson Chhiu Chhin Lim and Richard Kurt David, scored 13.0 match points to capture the crown.

Tiu bested AGM Voltaire Marc Paraguya on Board 1 while Lim nipped Venz Dwight Kwan of Board 2.

Clark Kaeron Kwan prevented a possible shut-out loss of Cavite Knights after halving the point with David on Board 3.

The winning team played under head coach and team owner Ronald Hermida received the champion's purse of P35,000 to MPCL president IM Hamed Nouri and Mr. Arnel Pinero.

"Maganda ang salubong ng taong 2023, nawa'y magtuloy-tuloy ito," said Hermida, a nurse employee at Makati Medical Center.

The Libay Team was composed of Domingo Libay, Jaime "Kuting" Criste and Naim Labe took the runner-up purse of P20,000 after tallying 12 match points.

The Libay Team blanked Palaisdahan ni Ron spearheaded by Rodolfo "Jun" Panopio Jr., Gary Legaspi and Paul Sanchez.

Third to Fifth placers with 11 match points each were Team Boss Nato, MSI Konstruct Inc. and Kaizen Chess TV Assassins.
Rounding up to the top ten with 10 match points each were Mr. Marikina (sixth), Larry Boy (seventh), Team Aja (eight), Team Xadrez (ninth) and Unasa Big Boys (tenth).-Marlon Bernardino-
