Former Nietes foe Moises Fuentes dies from boxing related injury

Former Mexican world champion Moisés Fuentes died of complications after suffering a sudden knockout in October 2021, according to information released by Mauricio Sulaimán, president of the World Boxing Council.
“Thank God Moises Fuentes is already resting in peace, a warrior who fought until his last breath. Our condolences to his family and friends and the recognition of her wife for her dedication and delivery of her with indescribable love during this difficult year of suffering QDEP,” expressed Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of the WBC in a twitter message.
Fuentes, 36, had a fatal outcome in a fight against young prospect David El General Cuéllar in the sixth round in a fight held in Cancún, Quintana Roo in October 2021 and was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery after a diagnosis of a brain clot.
Fuentes had debuted in professional boxing in May 2007 and faced Juan Churritos Hernandez, Raul Garcia, Ivan Calderon, Donnie Nietes, Omar Salado, Francisco Chihuas Rodriguez, Kosei Tanaka, Daigo Higa and Chocolate Gonzalez among others.
Fuentes was the WBO minimum world champion and interim WBO light flyweight world champion.
