Labog shares lead with other 6 woodpushers By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Mon, 21 Nov 2022 TAGAYTAY CITY--National Master Eric Labog Jr. forged a seven-way tie for the lead after scoring a crucial third-round victory in the Asian Juniors and Girls Chess Championship 2022 held at the Knights Templar Ridge Hotel in Tagaytay City Sunday. The 19-year-old Labog, a freshman student at Immaculada Concepcion College, outplayed Fide Master Arman Hakemi of Iran to share the top spot with top seed IM Neelash Saha of India, IM Harshavardhan G B of India, IM Sugar Gan-Erdene of Mongolia, Chatterjee Utsab of Indonesia, IM Raahul V S of India and IM Avinash Ramesh of India with 2.5 points in the Boys division. Prior his game against Hakemi, Labog whose stint here is being supported by Immaculada Concepcion College President Marcelino Vincente Agana and Director Administrative Services Department/ School Director Mr. Raul S. Acapulco, defeated Arena Fide Master Michael Michio Dela Cruz in the first round then halving the point with International Master Michael "Jako" Concio Jr. in the second round. Concio, on the other hand, split the point with Ramadhan Dziththauly of Indonesia in the third round to raise his total 2.0 points, the same output of FM Sapenov Daniyal of Kazakhstan, FM Daniel Hermawan Lumban Tobing of Indonesia, Fernanda Agus Saputra of Indonesia, Dau Khuong Duy of Vietnam, Dziththauly Ramadhan of Indonesia and Christian Mark Daluz of the Philippines. In the Girls division, WIM Nazerke Nurgali of Kazakhstan dismantled FM Anousha Mahdian of India to score 2.5 points and climbed at 1st to 5th places. Also with 2.5 points are top pick WIM Assel Serikbay of Kazakhstan , WIM Amina Kairbekova of Kazakhstan , WIM Rakshitta Ravi of India and WIM Ngoc Thuy Duong Bach of Vietnam. The game between Serikbay and Kairbekova ended into a draw and so as did Bach opposite Ravi. Marian Calimbo of the Philippines trounced WCM WCM Jia-Tien Chua of Malaysia to improve her record to 2.0 points. The pride of Cebu Calimbo joins 6th to 8th places with WFM Bhagyashree Patil of India and WFM Mitra Asgharzadeh of Iran. Supporting the event are Tagaytay City Mayor and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino, Cavite Vice Governor and National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) Vice President Athena Bryana D.
