Warriors defend home turf, beat Knicks, 111-101

PhilBoxing.com

San Leandro, California- Tonight at the Chase Center, 18,064 hometown fans, give or take a few relatives, were waving yellow towels. Thank gosh it was only Splash Brothers Towel Giveaway Night and not ‘Wave the White Flag’ Night. Levity aside, a revved-up Warriors team snapped the Knicks’ two-game win streak and gained a much-needed Dub by the score of 111-101.

Steph Curry once again led the way with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists- a double-double (5 for 13 on treys). Curry slightly cooled down from a previous 50-point, though fruitless, effort in Phoenix last Wednesday, mainly because everyone around him stepped up.

Andrew Wiggins scored his usual contribution- 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists (3-8 from downtown).

Klay Thompson poured in 20 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists (4-10 three-pointers).

Draymond Green knocked in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists; a lone trey came in at a pivotal moment.

JaMychal Green dropped in 12 and Jordan Poole did 13 points, respectively, to carry the bench.

As a team, the Warriors shot 45.1% FG and a below average 36% 3-PT. They led the Knicks in personal fouls 26-16 resulting in 32 points on the foul line. The Warriors converted horribly going 11 for 20 from the free-throw line.

As a team, the visiting Knicks shot a low 34.5% FG and a lowlier 26.5% 3-PT.

The Knicks stumbled at the starting gates with a missed three-pointer which gave the Warriors easy transition buckets in the first quarter. Klay Thompson sparked with eight points in the first three minutes and set the pace. All night long, the Warriors took advantage of the Knicks’ poor shooting from close and afar. The Warriors led by as much as 22 points and the Knicks led by only a deuce.

Here are the Knicks leaders for the night:

• J. Randle scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists.
• R. Barrett followed with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.
• J. Brunson piled on 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Upcoming:

Golden State: Warriors visit the Rockets in Houston, Sunday, November 20, 2022.

New York: Knicks visit the Suns in Phoenix, Sunday, November 20, 2022.
