PhilBoxing.com

Tagbilaran City, Bohol – Fresh off a hard-fought 137-134 victory in Indiana the night before, the rebuilding San Antonio Spurs upset title contenders Philadelphia 76ers 114-105 Saturday night (Sunday morning, Philippine time) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, home of the Sixers.

Devin Vassell followed up on his outstanding performance versus the Pacers with team high 22 points on a 9-for-14 field goal shooting, including 4 from deep, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Keldon Johnson added 21 markers and eight boards for the Spurs, who had six players in double figures.

Jakob Poeltl grabbed 7 offensive rebounds, majority of which in the crucial stretches of the game, to finish with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. He also had 3 assists across his name. Doug McDermott came off the bench to hit four 3-pointers and scored all 14 of his points in the second half, including eight straight midway through the fourth.

Joel Embiid had a huge double-double, stuffing the stats sheet with 40 big points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks for Philadelphia, who are still winless in 3 outings. Harden was one rebound shy of a triple-double with 12 markers, 9 boards, 12 dimes, 1 steal, and 2 blocks.
