Kevin Arquero delivered the other triumph for King Pirates over Karl Victor Ochoa. Arquero drew for black, equivalent win in an Armageddon tie breaker. The Iloilo's lone victory came from import Armenian Grandmaster Gabuzyan Hovhannes at the expense of Grandmaster Mark Paragua. Paragua is manning the top board in the Chennai Chess Olympiad. "The Pasig King City King Pirates made history when it crushed the Iloilo Kisela Knights after winning the thrilling armageddon with a score of (2-1) to capture its first over-all championship trophy at the 2nd conference of the PCAP (Professional Chess Association of the Philippines) Pro-League. It was an exciting match between Pasig and Iloilo where both teams hardly prepared, fought each other, however, this time Pasig has ripen and proven itself to be crowned as the Champions and bring home its first grand championship trophy to Pasig City," said Franco Camillo, one of the two coaches of the King Pirates. The other coach of mayor Vico Sotto backed up Pasig City King Pirates is Expedito Bolico Sr. The King Pirates took the first of a two-set match, 12.-8.5, but the Kisela Knights fought back and snared the second with a pulsating 15.5-5.5 win that forced the three-game playoff duel. On the first game- blitz category, the Pasig Pirates, headed by Grandmaster import Mongolian Munkgal Gombosuren, Labog and Arquero outshined their opponents to reach an early lead (4.5-2.5). On the second game-rapid category, It was the power of the Homegrowns (Labog, Arquero and Jerome Villanueva) and prowess of WNM/Atty.
