Heno claims BWO Asia bantamweight crown

PhilBoxing.com

SOUTHPAW Edward “El Heneral” Heno of Paranaque City is the new Boxing Worldwide Organization (BWO) Asia bantamweight champion.

Heno took the newest title after he beat veteran Renoel “Singwancha” Pael of Matalom, Leyte last night, August 5 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Heno got the judges’ scores at 117-110, 117-110 and 115-112, all in favor of him. Heno landed many times his left straight and upper cut to hurt Pael.

Pael got dizzy every time he was hit by Heno’s left straight and upper. But because Pael is also good and a veteran, that's why he was able to manage.

It was Heno’s first fight at the bantamweight or 118 pounds. Heno got the BWO golden belt brought by BWO president Enoch Cruz and Vice President Mirlo de Castro.

“Three years without a fight, but Heno still managed until the 12 rounds,” said promoter Aljoe Jaro of Jaro International Promotion and now the newest manager of Heno.

Jaro said the Heno still needs to fight at least twice before he can challenge Ioka at 115 pounds and Inoue at 118 pounds.

“I don't want him to have opponents who are weak. I want to test him,” said Jaro.

Heno wants the Japanese as an opponent because they are brave.

“That's why no Japanese has beaten him yet. He has already beaten two Japanese,” said Jaro.

Heno first stopped Seita Ogido of Japan in the 7th round to win the vacant OPBF light flyweight title last September 10, 2017 at University of the Ryukyus in Nakagami.

Heno then beat Koji Itagaki of Japan by a unanimous decision to retain the OPBF light flyweight title last February 11, 2019 at NTT Cred Hall in Hiroshima.

Meanwhile, unbeaten Weljon Mindoro of Bacoor scored a technical knockout win in the 6th round over Jason Egera of Negros Occidental in the main supporting bout.
