Undefeated Shawn McCalman Boxing’s best kept secret outside of Rocky Mountains

PhilBoxing.com

BOSTON (August 3, 2022) – Undefeated Colorado super middleweight “The Amazing” Shawn McCalman (11-0, 6 KOs), arguably boxing’s best kept secret outside of the Rocky Mountain, returns this Saturday night outdoors at Century Casino in Central City, Colorado, in the 6-round, co-featured event against Mexican Ulisses “El Cerillo” Jimenez (24-30-1).

Co-trained by former world champion Vernon Phillips and residing in Aurora, Colorado, McCalman was a standout amateur who compiled a 65-7 record, including top honors in three Colorado State Golden Gloves tournaments.

The 28-year-old McCalman turned pro back in September of 2018, and, despite COVID-19 restrictions, he’s remained busy with four fights in each of the last two years, and Saturday’s fight will mark his third in 2022.

During the summer of 2021, McCalman won a 6-round decision against Vaughn “The Animal” Alexander (15-5) to capture the American Boxing Federation (ABF) West Super Middleweight Championship.

In his most recent fight this past March in Cheyenne, Wyoming, McCalman defeated previously undefeated Marquis Moore (10-0) by way of an 8-round unanimous decision (80-72, 78-74, 77-75).

“Shawn has flown under the radar and sneaking into the rankings,” McCalman’s manager Ryan Roach (Fighter Locker) said. “We have positioned him perfectly in 10 fights. He will be a scary fighter for a lot of the top guys in his division, Shawn has speed, power and he is a big man who been in with some good opponents including undefeated fighters.

“He had a very good camp. I never like looking ahead during fight week, but if we take care of business, I I think it makes sense to challenge someone in the top 10. We will see after this fight. We’ll see after this fight.”

Fighter Locker’s growing stable of gifted boxers also includes New York’s ABF American West super lightweight Ray Jay “The Destroyer” Bermudez (16-0, 11 KOs), Colorado’s ABF American West super middleweight champion “The Amazing” Shawn McCalman (11-0, 6 KOs), Massachusetts super lightweight Adrian “Tonka” Sosa (12-0, 9 KOs), Florida super bantamweight Daniel “The Dedication” Bailey, Jr. (10-1, 5 KOs), Massachusetts featherweight Troy Anderson, Jr. (5-0, 3 KOs), Dominican Republic super welterweight Juan Solano Santos (1-0, 1 KO) and 2-time Olympian, lightweight “El Tsunami” Leonel de los Santos (7-0, 5 KOs), 2-time Colombian Olympian and 2016 silver medalist Yuberjen “Tremdndo” Mrtinez (1-0, 1 KO), Florida light heavyweight Robert Daniels, Jr. (6-0, 5 KOs), Irish light heavyweight Tommy “The Kid” O’Toole (4-0, 3 KOs), Texas lightweight Miranda “ La Alacrana” Reyes (6-1-1, 3 KOs), Kansas brothers, welterweight Marcus Davidson (4-0, 4 KOs) and super lightweight Marcell Davidson (2-0, 1 KO), and Utah brothers, ABF American West lightweight champion Ignacio Chairez (8-1-1, 5 KOs) and lightweight Gabriel Chairez (4-0-1, 2 KOs).
