GM Laylo wins 2022 SG Chess Festival Classical

MANILA---Grandmaster Darwin Laylo of the Philippines took the 2022 SG Chess Festival Classical title, winning the tournament with 5.5 points held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore on Saturday, June 18, 2022.
The Dasmarinas City bet grandmaster was undefeated in the field tournament with 97 participants.
Fide Master Masruri Rahman of Indonesia also collected 5.5 points from a total six rounds, but had to concede to second place for having lower tie-break score.
Laylo and Rahman ended their game into a draw.
Meanwhile, Fide Master Arlan Cabe and Fide Master David Elorta, both from the Philippines led the huge group of 5.0 pointers that includes IM Ali Muhammad Lutfi of Indonesia, CM Jayden Wong and FM Ashvin Sivakumar of Singapore and Dwitama Gelar Sagara of Indonesia.-Marlon Bernardino-
