Weights OK for Night of Fights in Thailand

PhilBoxing.com

Zulueta (R) and Amisa pose during Friday's weighin.

BANGKOK, Kingdom of Thailand — Fighters made weight for Highland Boxing Team Promotion Saturday, May 14, at the fancy and starry SpacePlus Night Club in Bangkok, Thailand.

Tough pro boxers from 6 different nationalities, including Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, Pakistan France, Iran and the Philippines will excite fans while battling for pride and honor in the most thrilling fight show this weekend in the Kingdom.

Weight-classes for fighters in the card range from Light Flyweights for lighting-fast 5’ 4” unbeaten Filipino John Michael Zulueta, to Heavyweights for massively muscular 6’ 8” undefeated Pakistani boxer Taimoor Khan.

The promising 108-pounder John Michael Zulueta – whose boxing style resembles the one of Mexican awesome light flyweight great Ricardo “Finito” Lopez – is back in action after an almost 3-year hiatus due to we know what.

With covid now calming down in Thailand, the Filipino Zulueta (11-0-2, 4 KO’s) wants to reignite his career, a journey which saw him in the world-rankings in the IBF and WBA, claiming Asian belts from the IBO and IBF.

Does the undefeated Zulueta have future in the division of thrilling hall of famer Hilario Zapata of Panama? Let’s keep an eye on John Michael Zulueta.

In heavyweights, unbeaten, huge 26-year-old Taimoor Khan, a warrior about as big as Tyson Fury, weighing-in at 230 solid pounds, aims to claim his 5th win in the division of Rocky Marciano and fans are delighted to check his real skills and brutal force.

“No problem,” Khan says.

Good looking and friendly, plus with devastating power, Taimoor Khan wants to please audiences with another KO victory for the enjoyment of his many fans back in Islamabad and elsewhere; will he get it?

Also seeing action are skilled South Korean middleweight southpaw Tae Kyun Kim (3-1, 3 KO's), and 23-year-old super welterweight Florent Dervis (2-,0) from Ardèche France.

In addition, fans will see light heavyweight Pouriya Rokhneh of Tehran, Iran. Plus, 160-pounder Afridi Shahir of Pakistan against Vachayan Khamon of Thailand for the ABF Middleweight Belt.

On a sad note for tomorrow’s show, Japanese boxer Toshihiko Era (7-1, 6 KO’s) of Osaka, who was scheduled to fight Indonesian Frans Damur Palue in defense of his ABF Asian Boxing Federation light Flyweight title, needed to be pulled out of the event by medical authorities during today’s mandatory tests because Toshihiko was found to be infected with the covid-19 virus.

Oddly, Toshihiko’s Japanese fair maiden and the members of his boxing team all passed the covid tests OK.

The only one who did not pass was the disappointed and surprised Toshihiko who was 100% asymptomatic. He was taken to hospital with a kinda sad look on his eyes.

The organizers for Saturday’s exciting show in Thailand are Supanat Chantam and Brico Santig in association with Tony Chen and SpacePlus Bangkok.
