  Magpantay eyes another 10-ball title in Mindoro

  MANILA---FRESH from his victory in the 1st IMBA’s Place Taguig 10-Ball Open Tournament on Thursday, Jonas Magpantay lead other cue masters to another world-class pool event in the country —the P240,000 Summer Open 10-Balls Tournament, which unwrapped Saturday in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro.
 
 Besides the Bansud, Oriental Mindoro top player Magpantay, a former two-time US World Junior of Pool representative, also competing are Double World Champion Ronato Alcano, Antonio Lining and Raymund Faraon.
 
 The Calamba City, Laguna native Alcano made his mark on the billiards world by winning the 2006 WPA World Nine-ball Championship and the 2007 WPA World Eight-ball Championship.
 Camarines Sur bet Faraon, meantime marched through the ranks of big name contenders to sink the final ball and defeat Japanese star Naoyuki Oi, 11-8, to win the 47th All-Japan Championship men’s title held in Amagasaki, Japan in November 2014.
 
 The Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro ace Lining, on the other hand won numerous tournaments in abroad particularly in Japan circuit.
 At stake are P100,000 plus trophy for the champion.
 
 The runner-up gets P50,000 and a trophy, third P20,000 and a trophy, fourth P10,000 and a trophy, fifth to eight placer will receive P4,000 each, ninth to 16th placer will bring home P2,000 each and 17th to 32nd placer will pocketed P1,000 each.-Marlon Bernardino-
