Cainta's Buto dominates Goldland Chess Club tourney

CAINTA, Rizal---National Master Al-Basher "Basty" Jumangit Buto of Cainta, Rizal dominated the over the board (otb) rapid chess tournament held at the Goldland Chess Club, Village East Executive Homes in Cainta, Rizal Sunday, January 9, 2022.
The 12-year-old Buto, a Grade 6 student of Faith Christian School in Cainta, Rizal performed with 5.5 points out of the possible six to top the 15 minutes plus 3 seconds delay time control format.
"Magandang pa birthday po ito," said Buto who celebrated his 12th birthday on Sunday coinciding with the chess tournament.
Reynante Gacal placed second with 4.5 points.
Christian Alcira, Rohanisah Buto, Joey Lapurga and Ruden Cruz came third to sixth placers with 4 points each.
In seventh place is Richard Haiden Alarma with 3.5 points.
Completing the top 10 are eight Arnold Castillo, ninth Gene Kenneth Estrellado and tenth Jonathan Soriano who got 3 points each.-Marlon Bernardino-
