MICHAEL DASMARIÑAS HITS L.A. AHEAD OF THE INOUE FIGHT By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Mon, 31 May 2021 Team Dasmariñas (L-R): Manager Vilma Acosta, Dasmariñas and Trainer Tacy Macalos. Fresh from attending a farewell dinner at the Elorde Gardens in Parañaque City last Friday evening, International Boxing Organization Bantamweight champion Michael “Hot and Spicy” Dasmariñas (30-2-1, 20 KO) arrived in Los Angeles today ahead of his June 19, 2021 fight against Japan’s undefeated warrior Naoya “Monster” Inoue (20-0-0, 17KO) at the Virgin Hotel at Las Vegas. Dasmariñas arrived with his Team composed of one of his managers, Vilma Acosta and trainer Tracy Macalos. His other manager, Art Monis will follow before the fight. For 25 year-old Pili, Camarines Sur-born fighter, this is the first time ever he stepped foot in the USA let alone Los Angeles and Las Vegas. But he does not seem to be fazed by it. On the contrary, with the great opportunity presented by the fight, Dasmariñas is excited and ready to rumble. Dasmariñas is a lesser-known Filipino world-boxing champion but he aims to change all that with a victory over the undefeated and better-known Japanese foe from Zana, Kanawaga, Japan. Dasmariñas (2nd from right) and his manager Vilma Acosta (L) and trainer Tacy Macalos (R) were met by MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons (C) at the Los Angeles International Airport Sunday, May 30. Also in photo is a LAX officer (2nd from left). Photo by Jhay Otamias. The fight at the Virgin Hotel may not be as huge as the fights of the past Filipino greats like Manny Pacquiao that were held in huge venues like the MGM Arena, The Mandalay Bay Event Center both of which are located at the famed Las Vegas Strip and the Thomas and Mack Center at the sprawling University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus. Non-the-less, the triple title fight with the belts from the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Super bantamweight and the International Boxing Organization Bantamweight (IBO) Divisions, and The Ring at stake, the fight promises to be a real humdinger as both fighters surely, are determined to win the belts. One of the first things on the “to do list” of Dasmariñas will be a visit to the dental offices of this writer so that a custom-designed and fabricated mouthguard can be fabricated for him early giving him time to get used to it. The mouthguard will be used during the continuation of his training in the US and well as for the fight itself. The Inoue-Dasmariñas fight is the headliner of the multiple fight card promoted by the grand old man of boxing, Bob Arum of the Top Rank Promotions. It will be shown live on ESPN. starting at 10pm/ET or 7PM/PT. Tickets for the live audience are pegged at $300, $200, $175 and $75 and are available through ETIX.com Fighting on the undercard will be Mikaela Mayer (14-0-0,5KO) of Los Angeles versus the “Pantera” Erica Anabella Farias of Buenos Aires, Argentina (26-4-0, 10KO) for the WBO World Female Super Featherweight belt and Adam Lopez (15-2-0, 6KO) of Glendale, CA versus Issac Dogboe of Ghana who makes the UK his home, for the NABF Featherweight title.
