Pacquiao Leads 14 Pinoys in Transnational Ranking By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Mon, 13 Jan 2020  Fourteen Filipino fighters led by WBA welterweight super champion Manny Pacquiao are listed in the latest ranking of the authoritative Transnational Boxing Ratings Board or TBRB entering the new year, confirming their lofty global status in their respective divisions. Aside from Pacquiao, the other three reigning Filipino world champions namely IBF super flyweight titlist Jerwin Ancajas, IBF minimumweight belt holder Pedro Taduran and newly minted WBO bantamweight king Johnriel Casimero also made the list. The TBRB) is an all-volunteer initiative formed in October 2012 with the intention of providing professional boxing with authoritative top-ten rankings, identifying the singular world champion of every division by unbiased reasoning and common sense, while insisting on reform in the fight sport. TBRB members are independent professional journalists, boxing historians and record keepers from around the world. Their rankings and titles are meant to be uninfluenced by promoters and the traditional sanctioning bodies. Journalist Abac Cordero and record keeper Rey Tecson are representing the Philippines in the TBRB as Board Member. Noted sports chronicler Cliff Rold is one of the three Board chairs. Pacquiao also made it to the TBRB all weight elite pound for pound list at number 8 while ranking just behind Errol Spence and ahead of Terrence Crawford in the welterweight class. Ancajas is rated fourth among the top super flyweights, Casimero is second to WBA-IBF bantamweight ruler Naoya Inoue but Taduran is listed only number ten among the best minimumweight fighters in the world. Despite being inactive the past year, Donnie Ahas Nietes is rated higher by the TBRB at number two at super flyweight behind Board-recognized lineal titlist Juan Francisco Estrada and Srisaket Sor Rungvusai. Notwithstanding his loss to Kazuto Ioka, Aston Palicte still made it at number nine in the 115 lbs. class. Also ranking high is Nonito Donaire who is rated number five at bantamweight with Michael Dasmarinas, mandatory challenger to the IBF title held by Inoue, coming at tenth in a list that also includes blue chips Nordine Oubaali, Zolani Tete and Luis Nery. Three other Filipino fighters also made the list in the minimumweight namely Vic Saludar #5, Jason Canoy #6 and Melvin Jerusalem #9. Albeit recent ring defeats, Edward Heno and Jhack Tepora remain listed at #8 at light flyweight and#9 at featherweight, respectively. Geimel Magramo, the highest rated contender in both the WBO and IBF is listed at #8 in the TBRB rating at flyweight. Prominent and promising Pinoy fighters like light flyweight Christian Araneta, flyweight Jayson Mama, super bantamweights Marlon Tapales and Albert Pagara, featherweight Mark Magsayo and super featherweight Joe Noynay did not make the TBRB ranking but they remained highly rated in the rankings of IBF, WBO and the WBC.
