NBA -- At age 38, Kyle Korver still getting it done

MILWAUKEE. Basketball, just like others fields of play, is a sport where the young devours the old.
But don't tell that to Kyle Korver.
With the wealth of 16 years worth of NBA experience under his belt, Korver, who turns 39 on March next year, showed the rest of the league that the man nicknamed "Machine Gun" still has a lot of fire left in his career.
With his current team, the Milwaukee Bucks, under siege yesterday against the visiting Dallas Mavericks, the Creighton University product got the call off the bench and responded with a fine effort of 17 points that was highlighted by a spectacular 5-of-7 fare from 3-point range.
Despite Korver's heroics, the Bucks saw their 18-game win streak come to a screeching end following Dallas' tight 120-116 victory at the Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee.
But the effort didn't go unnoticed as Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer lauded his players, Korver included, for fighting the good fight.
"I'm proud of my guys for the effort they put out there," Budenholzer told reporters.
The 6-foot-7 212-pound Korver was the 53rd overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft, the talent-loaded class headed by No.1 overall pick LeBron James. Through 16 NBA seasons, Korver has had stops in Philadelphia, Utah, Chicago, Atlanta and Cleveland.
A California native, Korver has appeared in 1,197 regular games where he averaged 9.8 points, three rebounds and 1.7 assists per.
