NBA -- CLIPPERS BLOW OUT ANTHONY, BLAZERS
By John Holtz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 05 Dec 2019

Coming into the game Tuesday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles, all the talk was about the new look Trailblazers with Carmelo Anthony coming off a great week where he was named Western Conference Player of the Week. Anthony started off hot hitting some big shots early but after a horrific collision with Montrezl Harrell at the rim, he ended the game with a very Melo 9 points and bow down to Clippers, 117-97.
Portland's two stars Lillard and McCollum kept the game close with 16 and 20 points each but the Clippers defense showed up determined in the second half. When it came down to Dame time, Lillard was stuck on the bench because his coach had thrown in the towel down over 20 points with over 7 minutes still to go in the game.
Montrezl sparked the Clippers late surge, ending the game with a game high 26 points and 9 rebounds. Harrell's highlight dunks and defense were somewhat overshadowed but his paltry performance at the free throw line going just 4 of 12 and hearing boos from the crowd. Paul George dropped 25 points on only 14 shots with seven from downtown and is the Clippers fans early MVP for being so consistent and reliable every night out. Kawhi was happy to let other players shine and seems to know when to turn it on and when to just chill. Leonard and Williams chipped in with 11 and 9 points each but the surprise of the night was Patrick Patterson's 19 points which included a couple killer corner 3's to help keep the Clippers up big in this blowout over Portland who fell to 8-13.
The Clippers improved to 16-6 with their 9th straight win at home and head out on a 6 game road trip with their 1st stop this Friday Dec. 7th in Milwaukee against the 1st place Bucks. The Clippers keep finding a way to win even with their offense looking horrendous at times but luckily they can always rely on their tenacious defense to save the day.
