SEA GAMES: 4 PH boxers advance in first round

DAVAO CITY -- Four boxers including three women from the Philippines advance into the first round today (Dec. 4) in the 30th Southeast Asian Games at the PICC Forum in Pasay City.
Light flyweight (48kg) Josie Gabuco scored via split decision over Chuthamat Raksat of Thailand, 4-1 in the quarterfinals.
Bantamweight Aira Villegas defeated Vilayphone Vongpachan of Laos via a unanimous decision in 54kg quarterfinals while flyweight Irish Magno stamped her class over Leona Hui XIn Yee, 5-0, in 51kg quarterfinals.
In the men's boxing, Carlo Paalam crushed Khamphouvahn Kahmsathone of Laos via a unanimous decision in light flyweight (46-49kg) quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, veteran Efren Reyes pummeled Thongchai Punyawee of Thailand, 100-37, in 1-cushion carom quarterfinal.
