MARTIN CAPTURES PBF TITLE WITH STOPPAGE WIN OVER ALOLOD
By Dennis Principe PhilBoxing.com Sun, 22 Sep 2019

Ifugao boxing pride Carl Jammes Martin passed his first tough test when he annihilated battle-scarred Benezir Alolod via 7th round knockout Friday night at the Mandaluyong Elementary School Gym in Mandaluyong City.
The 20-year-old Martin, who decimated all of his last seven foreign foes by an average of three rounds, got what he wanted in facing the 28-year-old Alolod, a former Philippine and regional titleholder.
While he was obviously the more talented boxer between the two, it took a while before Martin could connect the coup de grace as Alolod proved to be a tough nut to crack for the young boxer from Hingyon, Ifugao.
?Yung mga pinaghirapan namin like yung sa stamina ko at lakas, nasubukan talaga kasi matibay yung kalaban,? said Martin.
Martin showed a lot of poise as he maintained his focus in throwing telling blows despite staggering a sturdy Alolod a couple of times.
Alolod?s downfall started in the fifth canto when he got floored by a right to the body followed by a left to the jaw.
Martin slowed down a bit in the sixth but went for the kill in the seventh when he unleashed a cracking left to the jaw that saw Alolod lay flat on his back, forcing referee Elmo Coloma to wave off the fight at 1:31 of the fateful round.
?Dadagdagan pa din po yung training at stamina dahil expected ko na pabigat nan g pabigat ang laban ko.
The win improves Martin?s outstanding record to 14-0, 13 via knockout while Alolod fell to 19-13-5, 7 via KO.
?Gusto ko pa din na sa next fight yung mas angat ng konti sa akin, kahit rated po basta makita ko kung hanggang saan ang kaya ko at yung dapat ko pa ma-improve,? added Martin.
Martin is hoping to get one more fight this year before campaigning against seasoned and rated foes starting next year.
Newly-crowned PBF bantamweight champion Carl Jammes Martin of Ifugao is joined in the ring by Shockpunch Promotions owner Yolly Alfante (left) and US-based Rey Rodis of Red Promotions.
