PAGARA ANNIHILATES SAWANGSODA IN ORMOC CITY
By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Mon, 19 Aug 2019
Albert Pagara (L) and Jeo Santisima were victorious in Ormoc on Saturday.
Prince Albert Pagara displayed his devastating form once more as he quickly disposed of knockout artist Ratchanon Sawangsoda of Thailand stopping the visitor in the very first round in the main event of Pinoy Pride 46 last Saturday in Ormoc City.
Pagara floored Sawangsoda four times in the first round prompting the Thai challenger's seconds to throw in the towel of surrender, so the referee stopped the bout at 2:53.
Pagara raised his career record to 32-1 with 23 KOs, while Sawangsoda fell to 12-4 with 12 KOs. All his four losses now are by way of KOs also.
ALA head trainer Edito Villamor said that the Maasin City born Pagara has regained his old catastrophic form and will soon earn a crack at the world title.
He added that his 25-year old prot?g? will fight for a title eliminator to become the mandatory challenger for a world title shot. Pagara is just waiting for a big opportunity to knock on the door of his pro career.
Pagara is the No. 3 contender in the WBO super bantamweight ratings, behind No. 1 Marlon Tapales and No. 2 Juan Miguel Elorde, both Filipinos also. The champion is Mexico's Emanuel Navarrete.
Navarrete defeated Ghanaian Isaac Dogboe to wrest the WBO super bantamweight title last December and won again the rematch last May. The champion just recently defended his belt by a 3rd round TKO of American Francisco de Vaca in Los Angeles.
ALA Gym stablemate Jeo Santisima, who is WBO No. 7 super bantamweight contender, also had a short and easy triumph over Indonesian Alvius Maufani by knocking him out in the first round.
Santisima stopped Maufani with a thundering straight right hand and won by KO with the time 1:49 of the first round. Santisima improved his career record to 18-2 with 15 KOs, while Maufani skidded to 6-4-2 with three KOs.
In the supporting bouts, Jonas Sultan won by TKO over Salatiel Amit in the seventh round. Melvin Jerusalem also won by a seventh round TKO over Reymark Taday.
