IOKA STOPS PALICTE IN 10
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Wed, 19 Jun 2019

Kazuto Ioka made history Wednesday night by becoming the first ever Japanese to win world title belts in four weight classes after he stopped Aston Palicte of the Philippines in the 10th round at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, near Tokyo, Japan.
Ioka captured the vacant WBO world super flyweight title vacated by Donnie Nietes after Nietes refused to defend the belt in a rematch against Palicte.
Palicte started strong and threw a lot of punches in the first two rounds but Ioka, using sleek movement to avoid Palicte's bombs and quickly coming in and out, came back strong to control the fight in the next four rounds. Palicte, probably sensing he was behind in the scorecards, came out very aggressive in the 7th round throwing a lot of hard punches and combinations many of which hit Ioka who was backing up. Sensing his chance to end the fight, Palicte gave his all but somehow Ioka weathered Palicte's attack and connected with his own counters as Palicte appeared to gas out.
In the eight round, Ioka upped his work rate as Palicte fades out and has now regained control of the fight. In the 10th Ioka caught Palicte with a combination that staggered the Filipino and followed it up with a flurry of punches that almost sent Palicte down before veteran Referee Kenny Chevalier saved Palicte from further damage.
Ioka, has now won titles in the minimumweight, light flyweight, flyweight and super flyweight and has improved his record to 24 wins 2 losses with 14 knockouts. Palicte dropped to 25-3-1, 21KOs.
